Hello writers and artists who might be assigned to me in exchanges! Thank you for creating for me, I hope you have a good time in doing so.
DISLIKES/SQUICKS/DNWs
• Scat - not my cup of tea. Enemas aren’t my kink, but I’m fine with them so long as you don’t focus on what comes out. Anything more toward scat kink than that, however, is not something I'd choose to read.
• Spit kink - same as above. No spitting in someone’s mouth especially. If somebody spits on someone else as part of the narrative, though, that’s fine.
• "Extreme Penetration" - if it’s not possible IRL, I usually don’t want to read it. There are exceptions! For example, if you create some sort of in-world explanation for why cervical/uterine penetration would be possible and pleasurable, I'd very into reading that. And I am happy to read intense forms of penetration that ARE possible IRL; if real-life humans can do it with practice and stretching, I'm happy reading about the same in fiction!
• Kidfic - characters being 'baby crazy,' trying for a pregnancy, getting pregnant and keeping the pregnancy, or adopting are not things I want to read. I also do not want to read about non-canonical kids. I don't mind depictions of canonical parent & child relationships, though! One exception in which I'm happy to read about pregnancy: if it's someone’s new take on a canonical dad who didn't give birth to his child.
• Unintended Pregnancy - I don't want to read this even in omegaverse scenarios. I am, however, happy to read about characters using contraceptives.
• “Daddy” used in dirty talk purely as sexy nomenclature - I'm not into scenarios in which the characters just throw around the word “daddy” (or variants like papi). I’m into daddy kink because of the emotional dynamic, not just the word by itself, and situations in which one character just calls the other one "daddy" (or similar titles) without asking or negotiation tend to squick me.
• Biological Essentialism - any AU or stories in which men/women/omegas/submissives/mutants/elves/any other group "just inherently want/feel/do certain things" will be a squick for me. I’m delighted to read stories about people experiencing heat/rut/strong biological responses, but for me there’s a difference between “this is something my body is doing” and “I’m automatically going to want/feel/do certain things because of a biological category I’m in.” So for example, an omega wanting sex they wouldn't normally want during heat because of their hormones is fine, but saying all omegas are naturally submissive squicks me. The same is true for stories featuring real-life biological categories, like saying all cis women are naturally submissive bottoms.
• Modern Events - I don't want to read fics about current politics or coronavirus.
GENERAL PREFERENCES & SOME LIKES
• Adult Content - I tend to prefer stories where there's some sex somewhere along the line, but this is not mandatory!
• Stories where the stakes are emotional/interpersonal rather than featuring Big Epic Plots. Think Jane Austen's interpersonal stakes rather than the Lord of the Rings' life-and-death/world-ending stakes. A lot can happen between people that can be intense and emotionally monumental without it changing the world, and that’s the type of plot stakes I generally prefer. This isn’t to say I don’t like higher-stakes stories sometimes (I love LotR) but it’s safest to write interpersonal stories rather than epic stories for me!
• Polyamory/Nonmonogamy - I love stories about polyamory and nonmonogamy. Mention of other background ships featuring the characters I requested won't bother me, and if you want to write me multiple requested ships in the same fic, I'll be delighted.
• M/M content - I tend to prefer M/M ships and content overall.
• M/F content - I'm only very rarely interested in stories about heterosexuality and normative heterosexuals - but that isn't the same thing as being wholly disinterested in M/F content, including sexual content. Getting into all the specifics of what the difference is would be tiresome, but to give you some examples of what I enjoy, I like bi characters in supportive relationships, bi-for-bi M/F relationships, pegging, femdom, and gender nonconforming men and women.
• F/F content - I especially enjoy reading about butch women, stone dynamics, gender non-conforming women, and trans women. I'm always happy to read butch or trans takes (or butch trans takes!) on female characters. I'm also happy to read about femmes and femme identity, and the ways that's different from just being someone going along with cisnormative female gender expectations.
• Trans, nonbinary, and/or intersex content - I sometimes greatly enjoy reading trans stories, but I do have some pretty strong squicks. I absolutely do not want to receive gifts including misgendering, forced feminizing of trans men/mascs or forced masculinization of trans women/femmes (but femme trans men and butch trans women are great), detransition, pregnancy/impregnation with trans characters, or strong themes of transphobia/prejudice toward trans people. And finally, I do not want trans misery porn; fics focused on trans misery and dysphoria are not for me. I am fine with dysphoria showing up in a fic that's about other things, but I don't want to receive fics where it's the focus of the narrative. (If there's a specific sex act you wanna write for me that isn't possible on a cis body and you don't wanna have to worry about all this, though, it fine to just write it into a multisex omegaverse AU. I enjoy omegaverse too!)
• Neurodivergent headcanons - I'm delighted to read these if you want to write them!
• Ace/Aro headcanons - I'm happy to read a-spec headcanons, so long as they are not being used as a way to say "here's why X character is unshippable". I'm happy to read about sex-repulsed characters, sex-neutral characters, and sex-favorable characters. I enjoy romance a lot, so aro takes on characters tend to be less my thing, but if you don't want to write romance for me, no worries! I'm happy to read fics about casual sex, friends with benefits, or queerplatonic relationships!
• Fat Positivity - I’m happy to read fics in which characters view weight gain or no longer being thin as a sign of recovery/health, are fine with gaining weight, or are just fat. I’m happy to read characters enjoying body fat and fatness. This is not a fetish for me, though, and some of the ways fetish content for it gets worded or handled are squicky for me.
TROPES I ENJOY
• Arranged Marriage/Political Marriage/Marriage of Convenience/Forced Marriage/Mail-order Spouse - These are some of my absolute favorite tropes. I love it when people have to navigate intimacy and boundaries and feelings with each other in the context of already being married - especially if they do fall in love in the end!
• Fake Relationship - I enjoy scenarios in which characters are not supposed to develop feelings for each other or never had them before but are suddenly engaging in all this new intimacy with each other. I love seeing how those feelings develop and what changes their perspectives on one another!
• Fix-It AUs - I enjoy some grimharsh canons, and for me that means I love fix-it fics too. If you wanna write a softer take on canon worldbuilding, canon events, or canon character outcomes, I’ll probably enjoy it.
• Historical/Regency AUs - I love Jane Austen and stories of that genre. But, my interest is less in the Regency time period specifically and more about romances that feature social rules/regulations that make love and sex more difficult and confusing to navigate. So, while I will always adore a thoroughly-researched Regency AU featuring historical footnotes, I'll enjoy an ahistorical fantasy version of a Regency AU just as much.
• Hurt/Comfort - I’m willing to read quite a lot of very severe hurt if there is an equal amount of comfort at the end. I’ll read some very grim fics about trauma if the fic also includes recovery, healing, and care.
• Trauma Recovery - I love reading fics about how PTSD fades and softens with time and work.
• Crack Treated Seriously - I enjoy cracky premises treated dead seriously. Some of my favorite fics of all time have been cracky premises treated seriously.
• Friends to Lovers - I love stories about people who already know each other and are learning to see one another in a new way.
• Enemies to Lovers/Enemies to Allies to Lovers - I love being convinced that people who have hated each other, hurt each other, or been on different sides of a conflict could come to understand, trust, and cherish each other. The formation of trust, the growing of understanding and empathy, and the earning of forgiveness are like catnip to me.
• Redemption Arcs - I love to see a character who has fucked up and harmed people and who is learning to do better and be better. I’m not interested in either sacrifice stories, where someone "earns forgiveness" by destroying themselves, or stories where forgiveness is granted without effort. But I love seeing how someone would work to become a better person and move on from the harm they’ve done.
• 'Villainy Decaying' Arcs - Instead of redeeming a villain, show me a villain whose moral compass hasn't changed but who is grudgingly, grumpily becoming less horrible, either because they’ve fallen in love with someone who has a better moral compass, or because being bad has just gotten too boring or costly. Turn that villain into an angry wet cat who’s pissy and yowling but still going along with better morality, and I’ll be happy.
• Humor - I love funny fics! I especially enjoy humor styles like Wodehouse and Pratchett, if that gives you any frame of reference, though those aren't the only approaches I like.
• Monster/Alien/Non-human Love Interests - I love stories about nonhuman standards of beauty, non-normative attraction and desire, unusual courtship rituals, and meeting in the middle around huge cultural/physiological differences! Plus, I love the anatomical possibilities that open up, like tentacles, knots, spermatophores, or even wilder stuff!
KINKS I ENJOY
• Omegaverse - I enjoy traditional alpha/beta/omega fics, but I really love unconventional takes on omegaverse. I love a lot of the traditional animal aspects like hormone cycles, heats/ruts, and knotting, but I also love worldbuilding around other alternative genitals, sexual fluidity, and nontraditional masculinity and femininity and gender roles. I also really enjoy stuff like courting jewelry and other cultural notions within omegaverse! HERE and HERE are two notable examples of unusual takes on omegaverse that I loved, if you're curious!
• Male Lactation - I only want this on cis male characters, but I really enjoy fics about cis men adapting to the body changes of lactation, regardless of how they feel about the process.
• Experience Gap - I love stories where one partner is very experienced and the other partner is innocent, naive, or just has never had the opportunity to try sex before, especially if the experienced partner then teaches their lover how to have sex or achieve orgasm. I’m into this in both consensual and noncon scenarios.
• Age Difference - I’m here for big age gaps, projecting parental needs onto older partners, and fraught emotional dynamics because of different life experience levels.
• Consensual Daddy Kink/Mommy Kink/Parental Kink Dynamics: what I really, really love here is the dynamic of one character being confident, self-assured, and experienced, and the other being naive, inexperienced, and/or uncertain. I love it when the "parental" partner is unflappable in the face of whatever their younger partner is feeling, and can comfortably and gently handle whatever fears, concerns, self-consciousness, inexperience, or reactions their partner is having. I especially love it when the "parental" partner feels emotionally satisfied by being the steady one who knows what they're doing and is in control, not out of an abusive desire to manipulate, but because they get comfort/safety out of having that kind of consensual control and competence with someone who wants that.
• Forced Arousal/Forced Orgasm - in dubcon/noncon stories, I love narratives in which the person doesn’t want to be turned on or enjoying it but ends up helpless in the face of their own responses. I like "no, no...yes" and "I hate that I like this" scenes. I'm also into noncon stories in which the person being nonconned is like "Well I didn't want this but it's happening, so I might as well enjoy it".
• No Homo - I love seeing men who’re holding the thinnest veneer of homosocial bonding over their torrid love affair. I love seeing men grappling with their own internalized homophobia in the face of their overwhelming desire, and hiding it behind some variant of No Homo. I love seeing men horrified to want and enjoy sex with men. I love seeing mental gymnastics like “we didn’t do genital penetration so it’s not gay” or “I topped so it's not gay” or "we didn't kiss so it's not gay." (I'm also very into this between women! That's often a different flavor of internalized homophobia, though, and I'm less sure of what the name for it would be)
• Sex Pollen/Fuck Or Suffer Consequences/Something Made Them Do It - I enjoy scenarios where characters navigate situations of compromised consent in which nobody is at fault. I love the kinds of complicated consent which come from these scenarios. I also love scenarios in which, despite the pressure, people find ways to make the sex consensual and caring!
• Size Difference - I’m into big/small pairings, sometimes all the way up to macro/micro pairings. I’m into size queens and people who like sizeable penetration, but I also like stories where someone has small genitals and everyone enjoys/kinks on that!
• Cock Cages/Chastity Belts - the logistics of chastity belts can get kind of fraught sometimes, and I do have difficulty suspending disbelief on some scenarios that just fully ignore the everyday logistics, but I love chastity cages/belts on any gender or genital shape. If someone cannot get off because of their chastity device, or can’t get off in the way they want, I’m interested.
• Castration/Nullification: I love reading about cis guys who have lost their cock, balls, or both, either voluntarily or against their will. I enjoy seeing how they adapt to the change, and if it causes them dysphoria or is actually kind of a relief.
• Soft dicks - sex where people with penises have sex with their penis still soft is hot to me, including things like giving head to soft dicks or using vibrators on them.
• Sadism/Masochism - it’s rare I see S/M as intense or as realistic as I enjoy reading. I’m into reading a lot of types of pain, including impact play, play piercings/needleplay, stress positions, spice play, and other variants. I’m not into things that would cause mutilation IRL, tho, or things involving bone damage, internal genital/anal perforation, tooth/gum damage, fingernail/toenail damage, or eye harm.
• Age Play - I’m only into this in a consensual context, but I’m into both nonsexual forms of this as well as sexual ones. I especially love stories where ageplay is used for the purposes of positive reparenting, trauma healing, and emotional support. While I'm not enthusiastic about adult baby/diaper kink/wetting or related kinks, they're not a squick for me either.
If you've read all of this, thanks for your interest and commitment to creating something I'll enjoy!
